Andrés Delich
Andrés Guillermo Delich has a BA in Sociology (University of Buenos Aires, Argentina) and a specialized degree in Educational Management (Universidad de San Andrés, Argentina).
He served as a national deputy and also as Minister of Education of Argentina.
His research has focused on the structural aspects of Latin American education systems. He has contributed to numerous publications, such as the book Política educativa: ¿Es posible? published in collaboration with Gustavo Iaies.
He has been an adjunct professor of Sociology at the University of Buenos Aires for over 15 years. He has also worked for the Organization of Ibero-American States for Education, Science and Culture (OEI) for 8 years. He served as Director of the Buenos Aires office and is currently the Deputy Secretary General of the Madrid office, where he is currently based.
Carlos Torrendell
Carlos Torrendell
Carlos Horacio Torrendell has a BA and a PhD in Educational Sciences from the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina. He also holds a specialist degree in Education with a specialization in Educational Management from the Universidad de San Andrés (Argentina).
He has extensive teaching experience as a professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Argentina, Universidad Austral, and Universidad de San Andrés. He has also taught at the secondary school level. His research and professional scope are focused on the development of inclusive and effective education policies; comparative studies of educational systems; the history of education; the history of ideas; and research and teaching in Catholic education.
He is the current Secretary of Education at the Ministry of Human Capital of Argentina.
Esther Kuisch Laroche
Esther Kuisch Laroche
Esther Kuisch Laroche has a master’s degree in Latin American Studies from Leiden University (The Netherlands) and a master’s in Education (Lifelong Learning and Adult Education) from Pennsylvania State University (USA).
She worked as Director of Partnerships at UNDSS in New York. In addition, she served as Director of the UNESCO Office in San José and as UNESCO Representative in Costa Rica, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama. Between July 2014 and September 2018, she was the Director of the UNESCO Office in Tehran and UNESCO Representative to the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkmenistan.
With over 25 years of experience, she has worked around the world with various UN agencies, funds, and programmes, as well as with several international NGOs, in the fields of sustainable development, human rights, and humanitarian aid.
She is currently the Director of the UNESCO Regional Office for Latin America and the Caribbean in Santiago de Chile.
Martín Benavides
Martín Benavides
Is a Peruvian researcher who served as the Minister of Education in 2020. In 2022, he served as Director of the Observatory of Higher Education, and from 2018, he was a senior professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (Lima). Between 2018 and 2020, he served as Superintendent of the regulatory body of Peru's university system where he led the reform for improving the quality of higher education. Earlier in his career, Martín joined the Peruvian think tank Group for the Analysis of Development (GRADE), where he later became the Executive Director from 2008 to 2018. He has also been a visiting researcher at different US and French high-level academic institutions. He was appointed Director of IIEP in 2023 and provides strategic leadership to the Institute.
